The military prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation into a criminal case regarding corruption in the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).

According to information from the SCNS press service dated February 27, Eldar Jakypbekov, who previously held the position of head of the SCNS in Bishkek, is suspected of organizing a criminal group consisting of committee employees and civilians engaged in illegal enrichment.

As part of the investigation, in accordance with Article 336, Part 1 ("Corruption") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, five individuals have been detained and are currently in custody in the temporary detention facilities of the Bishkek City Police Department and SIZO-1.

The internal security service conducted an internal investigation, the results of which are as follows:

- six employees were dismissed from the national security agencies;

- another six employees were removed from their positions and transferred to the disposal of the SCNS;

- one candidate for service in the SCNS was excluded;

- disciplinary actions were imposed on eight employees.

The press service emphasizes that efforts to identify other SCNS employees involved in criminal activities will continue.
