In Georgia, 72 residents of a village were detained for 'involvement in the criminal world'
According to information provided by the publication Interpressnews, 72 residents of a village in Georgia have been detained on suspicion of being connected to the "criminal world".

These events occurred as a result of a special operation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia in the village of Sharabidze, located in Adjara. This is the largest case of detention on such charges in a single operation.

According to media reports, three suspects were found in one of the houses. During their detention, one of the special forces accidentally fired his weapon, causing a bullet to shatter a mirror and injure a 68-year-old woman with a shard, who was then hospitalized. Two brothers who sustained knife wounds during the arrest were also taken to a medical facility.

At the conclusion of the operation, a small protest was held by a group of residents from the village who remained free outside the district police department.

Under Georgian law, individuals accused of "involvement in the criminal world" face heavy fines and imprisonment for a term of 7 to 15 years.
