In a conversation with a Turmush correspondent, she shared that growing flowers has become not just a hobby for her, but the meaning of her life.
“I live with my flowers. Whether I am happy or sad, I tell everything to my flowers. I have more than 15 types of flowers. Each requires individual care. I buy special vitamins for them. Flowers really need affection and care.
Sometimes I play music for them. Among them are several types of calathea, the flower ‘female happiness,’ argesia, various types of lilies, red anthurium, and others. I have a calla flower that has been blooming every winter for the past 7 years on my birthday. For the flowers, besides vitamins, I also buy different types of soil and fertilizers,” she said.
According to Mutabar, she mainly orders flower seedlings from the city of Bishkek. She grows some types herself—rooting cuttings, collecting seeds, and propagating.
“The prices for flowers vary. The most expensive is a flower called ‘ardisia,’ which costs up to 1000 soms. For some reason, possibly due to the price, the demand for it is not very high. Other types range in price: from 250 soms, often 300–500 soms.
I also have an unusual flower called ‘Goldfish’—customers are very interested in it,” she says.
Mutabar grows flowers at home, in the hallway: “I installed a special heating system, and to let warm sunlight in well, we put in a large window.
You can even grow flowers at home and earn well. The money goes for daily expenses, for food. I used to work in Russia, and when I returned to the village, I started growing flowers. Not much time has passed, but I have a lot of flowers now. I plan to bring in even more new types,” she shared.
