In the Chui region, in the Panfilov district, students of the K. Tilebaliev boarding school actively care for birds during the winter months. In this context, a Turmush correspondent spoke with the kids.

12-year-old Alinur Akylbekov, a fifth-grade student, shared his experience in caring for birds. He noted that many different species inhabit their area, and he finds them very interesting. "I often think about how they survive on cold days when it snows or rains. Once, together with my grandfather Kanybek, we made a birdhouse. I brought it to school and, after getting permission from the teachers, hung it on a tree in front of the school with my classmates. The next day, sparrows began to arrive, sit on it, and even go inside. We were very happy that now they could shelter from the cold. Every day we leave food for them — bread and other products. They have already gotten used to us," Alinur said.

During the conversation with the students, other interesting stories emerged. One of the boys shared an observation about a cat: "It has been living near the school for many years. When we gather outside, it slowly approaches us. If you pet it and offer bread, it gets happy, its eyes seem to smile. It seems that birds and animals also need care, just like we do. Our school is for orphans and children left without parents, and I thought about how important this care is," said a student named S.

Ninth-grader Nazmina Urmanbetova also talked about how they grow flowers in the classrooms. "I came from Naryn and have been studying here since the 4th grade. Our classroom is cozy and beautiful; we engage in gardening: we loosen the soil, water the plants, and take care of them," she added.

Biologist and teacher Bakyt Osmonkulova supported her words and noted that such initiative and hardworking children deserve praise, as does the school administration. "The main goal of education at the age of 12 is to prepare children for life by providing them with practical knowledge, not just filling their heads with formulas and rules," she explained.

Gulmira Sharshenbaeva, the school’s cook, emphasized the importance of adhering to sanitary and hygienic standards in organizing nutrition for children and noted that the material and technical base of the cafeteria meets all requirements.

The director of the boarding school, Bakyt Alymbekov, shared that the educational institution was founded in 1939 and currently educates more than 160 children from different regions of the country who are without parental care. "I myself studied in this school from the first grade, and now, with a higher education, I lead it. All conditions for the education and living of children have been created. The classrooms, dormitory, cafeteria, recreation areas, and workshops are fully operational. We even have a mini-football field," he added.

According to him, the school may seem ordinary from the outside, but inside it hides unique stories and destinies. "This is a place where more than 50 employees work to provide care and warmth to the children. It is support from the state and sponsors, as well as hope for the future for new generations," noted the director.
