Serena Williams criticized for advertising weight loss drug

A scandal erupted following the release of a video by the American telemedicine company Ro, which was launched ahead of the Super Bowl. In it, the 44-year-old tennis player is depicted in a cropped top and mini skirt with a syringe containing GLP-1—a drug intended for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Williams claims that this medication helped her not only lose weight but also improve her cholesterol levels.

In response to the advertisement, social media users expressed disapproval, describing it as "terrible and sad" and "disgusting." Many criticized the promotion of prescription weight loss drugs, questioning the ethics of such behavior, especially for a professional athlete who is actively engaged in training.
