Akmataliev competed in the category up to 70 kilograms and won the decisive match against American athlete Alec William Pontaléo with a narrow margin of 3:2.
On his way to the finals, the Kyrgyz wrestler defeated opponents from Russia, Moldova, and Kazakhstan.
Additionally, his compatriot Zalkarbek Tabaldiev won a bronze medal in the same weight category.
