The Croatian Robert Prosinečki has begun his career as the head coach of the Kyrgyzstan national football team.

On March 25, the Kyrgyz national team played a friendly match in Turkey against the team of Equatorial Guinea.

In his first match in the new position, the 57-year-old specialist was unable to secure a victory: the Kyrgyz team lost 0:1, conceding the only goal from a penalty in the first half of the game.

Prosinečki became the 14th coach of the Kyrgyz national team and the tenth among them who could not win in their debut match.

Only two coaches have managed to start their national team careers with a victory: Sergey Dvoryankov won 1:0 against Macau, and Štefan Tarković finished the match against Afghanistan with the same result.

As for the debuts of other coaches, Anarbek Ormonbekov and Urmat Abdukaimov played their first games to a draw, recording the same score of 1:1 in matches against Nepal and Afghanistan, respectively.
