On January 9, competitions in jeep sprint and motorsport took place in the village of Almalyk in the city of Osh, the organizers reported to Turmush correspondent.

According to the organizers, about 100 athletes participated in the competitions. These types of auto and motorsport are distinguished by their extremity from other disciplines, as athletes compete in cars and motorcycles on tracks with complex terrain — featuring natural obstacles, turns, and technically challenging sections.

“This is called a circuit race. We mark the lines, form the track, and athletes in each category must follow their route, strictly adhering to the rules,” said one of the organizers, Ömürbek Ajibaev.

According to him, this year athletes from Uzbekistan, Batken region, as well as from the cities of Bishkek and Osh participated in the competitions.

“This year, participants came from Uzbekistan, Batken, Bishkek, as well as athletes from Osh,” he noted.

Unlike previous years, this year, alongside car races, motorcycle competitions were also held. In the jeep sprint, 40 athletes participated, while in motorsport (enduro), 70 participants tested their skills.

Participants in auto and motorsport competed in several categories. In the jeep sprint, athletes were divided into four categories:

novices;

standard;

sport;

absolute.

In the enduro competition, participants competed in two categories — novices and professionals.

These competitions have been held for the fourth consecutive year and are organized to promote motorsport among the population, attract tourists, and elevate local motorsport to a global level. Each year, the number of spectators in Osh is growing, and this year the competitions gathered hundreds of fans.

“We organize such competitions not only to promote motorsport but also to bring local sports to a global level,” said Ö. Ajibaev.
