According to Reuters, the Iranian drone Shahed-139 was shot down by an F-35 fighter jet while it was heading towards the aircraft carrier "Abraham Lincoln" with unclear intentions. The military confirmed that this action was taken in self-defense, and no American personnel were harmed, while the equipment remained unharmed.

These events unfold against the backdrop of attempts to establish dialogue between the U.S. and Iran regarding the nuclear program. U.S. President Donald Trump had previously stated that without reaching an agreement, "bad things could happen."

After the drone incident, global oil prices rose by more than a dollar per barrel.

The Iranian delegation at the UN did not comment on the incident, but the Tasnim agency reported that contact with the drone was lost in international waters, without specifying the reasons.

On the same day, Iranian boats and a drone quickly approached an American commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, threatening to seize it. However, the tanker continued its course under the protection of an American warship.

The aircraft carrier strike group plays a crucial role in strengthening the U.S. military presence in the Middle East, especially after Iran's harsh measures against protesters.
