Pentagon shot down Iranian drone

The event occurred in an area far from Iran

According to the Pentagon, the Iranian drone was shot down in the Arabian Sea.

The incident took place approximately 800 kilometers from the shores of Iran, when a US Navy F-35C fighter intercepted a Shahed-139 drone that was approaching the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier.

Captain Tim Hawkins, representing the US Central Command (CENTCOM), stated that the drone was maneuvering towards the carrier group and did not respond to calls for de-escalation, despite being in international waters.

The military department noted that the decision to shoot down the drone was made under the right to self-defense to protect both personnel and the ship itself. The Pentagon emphasizes that the actions of the American military were fully in accordance with international norms.
