Performers in Kazakhstan will be censored

During a briefing for journalists on Thursday, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Yevgeny Kochetov announced that authorities recommend artists avoid performing songs that could be considered violations of the law.

“We will provide support to local executive bodies. The contracts will clearly outline the obligations of the artists that they must not violate. These obligations primarily concern the content of their repertoire, ensuring it does not undermine the foundations of our society, nor promote pornography or drugs,” Kochetov noted.

According to him, this applies to all possible forms of illegal content. An artist who adheres to these conditions will be able to hold concerts in various cities across the country.

“From our perspective, this is a completely justified and correct approach,” the deputy minister added.

When asked whether an artist with prohibited themes in their work could perform in Kazakhstan, Kochetov replied: “We will recommend refraining from performing such musical works.”
