In the mountains of Almaty, the modernization of the existing infrastructure has begun, as well as the design of a new ski resort, Almaty Superski, on Kok-Zhailau, as reported by Bektenov.
Currently, there are 17 cable cars operating in the region, with a total length of 54 km. However, after the expansion is completed, an additional 46 cable cars are planned to be put into operation, covering 221 km. Construction work is set to begin in the spring of 2026.
The Prime Minister also noted issues in the tourism sector, pointing out violations of basic safety requirements and sanitary standards.
