As a result of the shooting, according to information from CBC News and police data, six victims were found directly in the school building. One person died on the way to the hospital, and two others were found dead in a neighboring house — their deaths are also linked to the tragedy at the school.
Preliminary data suggests that the attacker may have taken their own life. Additionally, at least 25 people were injured, two of whom are in critical condition and were hospitalized. The remaining students and staff of the educational institution were carefully evacuated.
The AFP agency reports that initially Canadian media reported that the shooter was a woman. However, the police have not yet disclosed details about the identity of the attacker, although they claim that he has already been identified.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed his condolences on social media, stating that he is "devastated" by the tragic events. "My prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to all the families and friends who lost loved ones in this horrific act of violence," he added.
