Trump announced an increase in import tariffs to 15%

In his statement, Trump emphasized: "I have decided to immediately raise tariffs for all countries from 10% to 15%. This decision is fully in accordance with the law." He also added that his administration will continue to develop a new tariff policy.

Earlier on Saturday, the president signed an order to impose "global tariffs" at a rate of 10% on imports from all countries. The White House clarified that certain goods critical to the U.S. economy will not be subject to these measures.

It is worth noting that Trump had previously warned of the possibility of imposing such tariffs following a Supreme Court ruling that deemed many of his tariffs illegal. The court indicated that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 (IEEPA) does not grant the president the authority to impose import tariffs.
