At 38 weeks of pregnancy, a woman was hospitalized in Poland with a blood alcohol level of nearly three per mille. As a result, her newborn child was also born with alcohol intoxication, as reported by the Polish publication Fakt.
This significant level of alcohol in the body posed a threat to both the mother and the fetus, prompting medical professionals to make the decision for an emergency cesarean section. After the baby was born, specialists found that the alcohol level in the infant's blood exceeded 1.5 per mille, which is extremely dangerous for the newborn's health.
Currently, the baby's condition has stabilized. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the mother, and she could face up to five years in prison.
