In winter, riding on tubes, also known as "vatruška," and inflatable rings is very popular. However, as experts from the Republican Center for Health Promotion note, this activity can pose serious risks, especially when basic safety rules are ignored.
Doctors emphasize that tubing can be difficult to control: their high speed and lack of brakes increase the likelihood of accidents. It is particularly dangerous to ride near roads, trees, or in crowded areas, which raises the risk of collisions. Homemade inflatable rings, such as car tires, also pose a threat as they are not designed for this purpose. It is important to note that children often ride without adult supervision.
To avoid injuries, specialists recommend the following:
- use only specially prepared and safe slopes;
- do not ride standing up and avoid riding together on one tube unless it is designed for that;
- constantly supervise children;
- explain the rules of safe behavior on the slope to children in advance.
