Abdominal bloating, often occurring after New Year's feasts due to excessive eating, can be a sign of serious illnesses. This is reported by RIA Novosti, citing information from The Sun.

According to Dr. Donald Grant, a general practitioner and senior clinical consultant at The Independent Pharmacy, in women, this symptom often signals ovarian cancer. Additionally, it may indicate food intolerance or the presence of tumors.

The specialist also added that bloating can be associated with Crohn's disease or diverticulitis. However, one should be concerned about this condition if it persists for more than two to three weeks.

During the New Year holidays, doctors recommend adhering to moderation in eating, as fatty, sweet, and salty foods can overload the digestive system. It is essential to drink enough water, as alcohol can cause dehydration.

Furthermore, medical professionals advise including more vegetables in the diet, limiting the intake of sweets, staying physically active during the holidays, and taking probiotics to maintain digestive health.
