In anticipation of the New Year holidays, on December 31 and January 1, Bishkek will deploy the maximum number of ambulance teams, totaling 42 during the celebration days. This was reported by Iskender Shayahmetov, the director of the Emergency Medical Center (EMC) of the capital, in an interview with 24.kg.
According to Shayahmetov, to ensure the quality operation of the EMC during the holiday period from December 31 to January 10, a special order has been issued, appointing responsible individuals to oversee the institution's activities.
On the central Ala-Too square on New Year's Eve, December 31, two specialized teams will be on duty — a resuscitation team and a cardiology team. “Our teams are fully prepared, equipped with all necessary medical materials. Additional medications and bandaging supplies have been allocated. There is a stock of medications available in clinics with round-the-clock access. Hospitals are also ready to receive emergency patients: the emergency hospital, the National Hospital, the children's hospital, and the National Surgical Center,” noted the EMC director.
Furthermore, he added that according to the legislation, employees working on holidays will receive double pay.
Shayahmetov expressed hope that the quality of pyrotechnic products and the control over their sale have improved, which will help avoid injuries. Last year, two people were injured by pyrotechnics on New Year's Eve.
According to medical professionals, the duty on December 31 is usually calmer compared to January 1, when people more frequently experience exacerbations of chronic diseases. In this regard, doctors recommend monitoring one's health, avoiding overeating (especially fatty foods), and not abusing alcohol. If necessary, one can wash the stomach with warm water without adding potassium permanganate. If the condition worsens, immediate medical assistance should be sought.
