In the lead-up to the New Year holidays, there is an active spread of fraudulent links on social networks and messengers, which are disguised as New Year greetings, giveaways, and gifts, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic (MVD KR).
According to the police, criminals are sending messages promising cash prizes, bonuses, or gifts on behalf of government agencies, banks, or well-known individuals. By clicking on such links, citizens are asked to enter their personal data, bank card details, or confirmation codes, which are then used for stealing money and hacking accounts.
The MVD KR strongly advises people to exercise caution, avoid clicking on suspicious links, and not disclose personal information, even if the message appears to be an official greeting or comes from an acquaintance.
If you encounter a leak of personal data or suspect fraud, immediately contact the internal affairs authorities at the number 102.
