The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges to observe safety measures when going out on frozen water bodies
The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) appeals to the citizens of Kyrgyzstan and tourists to observe safety measures when going out on frozen water bodies.
The agency emphasizes the importance of strictly adhering to the rules, pointing out that even in stable frost conditions, the ice can be thin and pose a danger to life.

Experts note that ice only five centimeters thick will not support the weight of an adult. Ice ten centimeters thick is acceptable for fishing, but moving on it is already considered unsafe. For safe movement on a snowmobile, ice must be at least 12 centimeters thick, for a passenger car — 20–30 centimeters, and for a truck — 30–38 centimeters.

Under the snow cover, cracks and holes are often hidden, which are difficult to notice. Therefore, going out on the ice alone or checking its strength by striking is highly discouraged.

Particular attention should be paid to weather conditions: going out on the ice during snowfall, fog, or at night is strictly prohibited, as the risk of accidents significantly increases during such times, warns the MES.
