The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic announces the introduction of new requirements for foreign citizens planning trips to Georgia.

Starting from January 1, 2026, new rules will come into effect for all foreigners wishing to enter the country, requiring them to have a valid medical insurance policy and accident insurance for the entire duration of their stay in Georgia.

These measures are stipulated by Georgian legislation in the field of tourism and apply to trips for tourism, business, and private purposes.

The insurance policy can be issued by both Georgian and foreign insurance companies and must be presented in paper or electronic format in English or Georgian.

The minimum amount of insurance coverage must be at least 30,000 Georgian Lari (GEL). The policy must contain the following mandatory elements:

— parties to the contract;

— territory of coverage;

— subject of insurance;

— dates of commencement and expiration;

— risks to be insured;

— amount of insurance compensation;

— amount of insurance premium;

— place and conditions of payment.

In light of the above, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly recommends that citizens of Kyrgyzstan planning to travel to Georgia familiarize themselves in advance with the new entry rules, consider possible additional requirements from carriers and border guards, and arrange for medical insurance in advance. It is advisable to have the specified documents in paper form for passing through border control.

Furthermore, the ministry emphasizes the importance of complying with migration legislation, including having a valid foreign passport, a return ticket, and proof of accommodation booking.

This information is advisory in nature and does not guarantee automatic entry into Georgia.
