As of January 1, 2026, all foreign citizens planning to travel to Georgia will be required to comply with new entry rules. In particular, they must have a valid health insurance policy that also includes accident insurance for the entire duration of their stay in the country, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
These measures have been introduced in accordance with Georgian legislation in the field of tourism and apply to trips for both tourist and business or private purposes.
The insurance policy can be obtained from both Georgian and foreign insurance companies and must be presented in Georgian or English in paper or electronic format.
The minimum amount of insurance coverage is 30,000 Georgian Lari (GEL). The policy must contain the following mandatory information:
- parties to the contract;
- territory of validity;
- subject of insurance;
- dates of commencement and expiration;
- insurance risks;
- amount of insurance compensation;
- amount of insurance premium;
- place and conditions of payment.
In light of the above, the ministry strongly recommends that citizens of Kyrgyzstan planning to travel to Georgia familiarize themselves in advance with the new entry requirements, consider possible additional conditions from carriers and border services. It is also important to arrange health insurance before the trip and have documents in paper form, as they may be required during border control.
Furthermore, the ministry emphasizes the importance of complying with migration regulations, including having a valid foreign passport, health insurance policy, return ticket, and confirmation of accommodation booking.
