In Kyrgyzstan, screening health examinations for children are beginning, aimed at detecting the level of lead in the body. These activities will cover both regions with high and low levels of pollution.

This initiative is part of an action plan approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, within the framework of the National Development Program, which is in effect until 2030. The examinations are planned to be conducted among preschool children and elementary school students from the fourth quarter of 2026 to the fourth quarter of 2030.

According to the plan, comprehensive screenings should cover at least 90% of children in the specified age groups across all regions of the country. Based on the collected data, an analytical report will be prepared, assessing the level of lead in the body and its potential impact on children's health.

The screening will be conducted every five years. The program also includes monitoring the proportion of children with blood lead levels exceeding 5 µg/dL.

Funding for the activities will be provided from the republican budget and with the support of international partners.
