In Kyrgyzstan, the coverage of preschool education for children reached 50%

Over the past year, there has been an increase in both the number of kindergartens and the number of places for children

The Ministry of Education reports that there are 1,997 full-day kindergartens operating in the country, attended by 257.3 thousand children. This is an increase of 23.4 thousand children and 85 kindergartens compared to 2024. According to the National Statistical Committee, the coverage of preschool education is 32.3%, which is 4% higher than in the previous academic year. If we consider school preparation, the overall percentage of preschool education coverage in the 2024–2025 academic year reaches 44.3%.

In 2025, a state educational standard for preschool education and child care was adopted, and a program covering children from 1 to 6 years old was developed. Additionally, a tool for assessing the early development of children aged 4–5 years was created, which includes a development map and methodological materials for educators and parents.

In various regions of the country, the establishment of 560 preschool educational institutions has been completed, including 500 short-term kindergartens and 60 development centers. The system for issuing vouchers for preschool education has also been fully automated. Low-income families and children with disabilities can receive compensation ranging from 2,000 to 4,560 soms monthly. In the first 11 months of 2025, 1,117 applications were registered under the voucher system.

A unified registry of all kindergartens in the country, regardless of their ownership, has been created on the "Balalyk" platform. To ensure effective use of facilities, 570 kindergartens received 927 million soms, allowing for the opening of an additional 419 groups and the acceptance of 10,707 children. New groups have created jobs for more than 900 employees.

As part of the preferential lending program, 17 million soms were issued for the construction and reconstruction of kindergartens, enabling the opening of 4 new institutions. In 2025, 25 previously privatized kindergarten buildings were returned. A total of 91 preschool institutions were opened in the year, of which 32 were newly built.
