The elephant was last seen in the Chaybasa area. Authorities have urged residents not to leave their homes at night and to avoid forested areas. According to experts, this is a young male that has separated from its herd and has become aggressive.
The forest department has attempted to tranquilize the elephant three times, but all attempts have been unsuccessful. The animal moves up to 30 km a day, and more than 100 specialists and wildlife experts from various states are involved in its search.
These incidents occur against the backdrop of increasing conflicts between humans and elephants in India, which is linked to deforestation and the reduction of migration corridors for animals. Over the past five years, more than 2,800 people have died in the country as a result of such encounters.
