Today, January 6, at the largest bazaar in Tehran, traders closed their shops as part of a nationwide strike, chanting slogans of "Freedom." Protests in Iran, which have been ongoing for ten days, began against the backdrop of a sharp decline in the national currency and a new financial crisis in a country that has been under sanctions for over 40 years.

In response to the strike, authorities sent security forces to the protesters at the closed bazaar. Tensions escalated instantly, and security forces used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.

The protests have spread to 27 out of 31 Iranian provinces, resulting in the deaths of 27 activists and two law enforcement officers.

During the rallies, which took place in 257 locations across the country, 64 people were injured, and 1,203 were detained. Most injuries were caused by rubber and plastic bullets.

Although Iranian authorities have not made official statements regarding the dead and injured, the Ministry of Interior classified the protests as a "rebellion" and noted that about 85% of calls for participation came through foreign platforms.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iranian authorities regarding their treatment of demonstrators, stating that the U.S. is "ready for battle."
