The company OpenAI has announced the start of testing advertisements in its product ChatGPT. Ads will be available to users using the free version, as well as to subscribers of the Go plan. Users who have chosen paid plans such as Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise will not encounter advertisements, as reported by Kazinform, citing information from OpenAI.

According to the company's statement, the introduction of ads will help reduce limitations for users who do not wish to pay for a subscription. OpenAI is also expanding the availability of the ChatGPT Go plan, which is now accessible in all countries where the service operates. For $8 a month, customers will be able to enjoy increased limits on messages, image creation, file handling, and chatbot memory.

Advertising testing will begin in the USA and will then cover other countries. Ads will only be visible to authorized users over the age of 18. Advertisements will be placed at the bottom of ChatGPT responses and will be thematically related to user queries, visually standing out from the main text.

OpenAI assures that the introduction of ads will not affect the quality of responses provided by the neural network. The privacy of conversations will remain high — advertisers will not gain access to users' personal data. Users will have the option to manage personalization settings, hide individual ads, or completely disable ads by switching to a paid plan.

During the testing phase, ads will not be displayed to underage users, and showing ads in the context of sensitive topics such as health, mental state, and politics is also excluded.
