According to a report by Malwarebytes, hackers were able to steal not only usernames but also physical addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and other important personal data. The data breach was first reported on the social network X.

As reported by NotebookCheck, experts link the incident to a hacker known by the alias Solonik. The stolen data was posted on the BreachForums forum on January 7, 2026, making it available to other malicious actors.

Instagram continues to be one of the most popular social networks, with around 2 billion active users monthly and over 500 million users logging onto the platform every day.

The article also mentions other serious cybersecurity incidents. In late December 2022, hackers gained access to part of Spotify's data by uploading and distributing metadata from the service. As a result of the breach, hundreds of millions of data entries and tens of millions of audio files were leaked online.

According to Spotify, the platform features over 100 million tracks, around 7 million podcasts, and approximately 350 thousand audiobooks, with a total user count exceeding 700 million.
