Amazon plans a new round of employee layoffs

According to Reuters, Amazon, one of the leading online retailers in the world, may soon announce a new round of layoffs, presumably next week.

Sources familiar with the situation reported that "the second phase of layoffs could affect up to 30,000 corporate employees" of the company, which is part of a larger optimization strategy.

Earlier in October, it became known about the company's plans to conduct the largest layoffs in the last three years, during which up to 30,000 workers could be dismissed. The day after this announcement, Amazon confirmed its intention to cut 14,000 employees in order to optimize its operations.

According to anonymous sources, the new layoffs could begin as early as Tuesday and will be comparable in number to the previous layoffs.

Founded in 1995, Amazon operates not only in the USA but also in Canada, China, Brazil, Japan, and European countries, remaining one of the largest players in the online retail market.
