According to information provided on February 24 by Deputy Minister of Health Bakytbek Kadyraliev, the incidence of hepatitis B among children has decreased by 145 times from 2000 to 2020. This statement was made at a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which addresses issues related to labor, health, women's rights, and social matters.

Kadyraliev noted that this success is a vivid example of effective preventive policy in the country.

Since 2002, vaccination against hepatitis B has been included in the National Immunization Calendar. Newborns are vaccinated at the expense of the republican budget, and vaccination of children under one year is carried out in cooperation with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization.

Since 2022, vaccination has also extended to the adult population. As part of a pilot initiative, 350,000 doses of vaccine and 140,000 rapid tests were obtained with the support of Rospotrebnadzor. The project started in the Chui region and Bishkek, and was then expanded to other regions.

As of February 1, 2026:

1 dose of vaccine received — 323,638 people;

2 doses — 271,182 people (83.8% of the total);

3 doses — 195,092 people (73.6%).

These measures have significantly increased the level of collective immunity among the adult population, he added.
