On January 30 of this year, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission made a decision to provide tariff benefits for Kyrgyzstan on the import of a number of goods that have social and economic significance. This is aimed at supporting the agro-industrial complex, ensuring the domestic market, and curbing inflation, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the new rules, the import of beef (fresh, chilled, and frozen, EAEU HS codes 0201 and 0202) is exempt from customs duties until December 31, 2026. At the same time, the total volume of supplies must not exceed 5 thousand tons. To obtain the benefit, it is necessary to provide confirmation from the authorized body, which must specify the importers, nomenclature, and volumes of the goods. The imported meat is allowed to be used exclusively for production at meat processing enterprises, and the export of finished products to other EAEU countries is prohibited.

A similar measure applies to raw cane sugar (subheading 1701 13 EAEU HS) with a volume of up to 20 thousand tons, effective until the end of 2026. To obtain the benefit, it is also necessary to have a document from the authorized body of Kyrgyzstan that confirms the purpose of the goods and contains information about the importers and processing organizations. The raw material can only be used for processing within the country, and white sugar produced from it is not subject to export to EAEU countries.

In addition, until December 31, 2026, there will be a duty exemption on the import of certain fruits: fresh bananas (up to 3 thousand tons), mandarins (up to 2.5 thousand tons), table grapes (up to 1.5 thousand tons), oranges (up to 1 thousand tons), mangoes, and kiwis (500 tons each).

Also, throughout each year until April 30, 2027, the duty exemption on the import of cocoa butter (EAEU HS code 1804000000) with a volume of up to 300 tons will remain in effect.

The Ministry of Agriculture hopes that these measures will help ensure stability in the domestic market, support processing enterprises, curb price increases for socially significant goods, and contribute to the development of the agro-industrial complex in the country.
