Milk in Kyrgyzstan may become more expensive soon

Farmers are demanding an increase in the purchase price to 40-45 soms per liter of milk. This information was announced the day before during a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development.

According to Aigul Nurumbetova, representing the interests of farmers, current purchase prices for milk range from 28 to 42 soms depending on the region.

She noted: “Milk prices have dropped sharply. Some farming families do not even keep milk for their children, as they are forced to sell it to buy food and pay for kindergartens. We urge factories to set a uniform price at the level of 40-45 soms, without dividing it into summer and winter periods.” She also added that in the event of further price reductions, they may appeal to the president and the head of the GKNB.

Baktybek Tuuganbaev, head of the LLC "Talas Daamy," noted that in the Talas region, a cow gives an average of 8 liters of milk, while in Belarus it is 20 liters, and in Russia it is 15 liters.

“It is necessary to increase productivity. The Ministry of Agriculture should consider ways to solve this problem, possibly through the improvement of cow breeds or the import of new ones,” he suggested.
