- On Wednesday, February 18, the Jogorku Kenesh will discuss a draft law that allows farmers to grow medicinal plants on agricultural land. This information is included in the agenda of the meeting posted on the parliament's website.

The initiator of this regulatory act is the Ministry of Agriculture. The amendments were submitted to the parliament on January 22.

According to the ministry, current laws prohibit the cultivation of medicinal crops on agricultural land. The "medicinal plants" that the Ministry of Agriculture proposes to allow for cultivation include such crops as valerian, calendula, sage, saffron, ferula, aconite, arnebia, rhodiola rosea, licorice, sea buckthorn, rosehip, barberry, thyme, and chamomile.

Additionally, it is proposed to include the cultivation of these plants in the list of key areas for state support of agriculture.
