Starting from March 1, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan will introduce a temporary ban for a period of six months on the import of seedlings of fruit and berry plants from countries that are not part of the Eurasian Economic Union. The corresponding decree was signed by Adylbek Kasymaliev.

The purpose of this document is to protect food security and improve the functioning of the agricultural sector of the country.

The ban applies to seedlings imported from third countries, with the exception of those varieties specified in the annex to the decree.

It is important to note that this restriction does not affect the supply of seedlings from EAEU member states, which are carried out within the framework of mutual trade. Transit of seedlings through the territory of Kyrgyzstan to other countries is also permitted.

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce must notify the World Trade Organization and the Eurasian Economic Commission about the introduction of protective measures. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to inform the Executive Committee of the CIS. The Customs Service and the Ministry of Agriculture have been directed to prevent any attempts at illegal importation of planting material.
