In the near future, as reported by Elizat Zhaparoа, head of the banking supervision department of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, funds in citizens' electronic wallets may become inheritable. This statement was made at a press conference.
According to Zhaparoа, a draft law is currently under discussion, which proposes amendments to several legislative acts. These changes will also pertain to electronic wallets, expanding existing regulations.
She reminded that last year amendments were made to the Law on the Protection of Bank Deposits, which now includes issuers of electronic money, such as banks, under the protection of the Deposit Protection Agency.
Zhaparoа emphasized that there are not only bank accounts in the market today but also electronic wallets. The proposal to extend the practice of inheriting bank funds to electronic wallets was initiated by the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic and received support from the National Bank. The draft law will be reviewed by the Jogorku Kenesh.
