In terms of sowings, the largest shares were occupied by:
- cereal crops (excluding legumes, rice, and buckwheat) — 609.7 thousand ha (48.9%);
- forage crops — 400.5 thousand ha (32.2%);
- potatoes — 66.6 thousand ha (5.2%);
- legumes — 55.8 thousand ha (4.5%);
- vegetables — 56.6 thousand ha (4.5%);
- oilseeds — 25 thousand ha (2%);
- other crops (including melons) — 24.8 thousand ha (2%);
- sugar beets (for processing) — 13.4 thousand ha (1.1%);
- cotton — 6.4 thousand ha (0.5%).
Compared to last year, the most significant growth was observed in wheat sowing areas, which increased by 7.1 thousand hectares, or 29.9%.
However, according to the National Statistical Committee, in 2025, 1,087 hectares of cereals were destroyed and written off, including 318 hectares of wheat and 769 hectares of barley. The main factors leading to these losses were severe drought with low germination, as well as the consequences of natural disasters — hail, mudslides, heat, and frosts.
As a result, according to data at the end of 2025, the total volume of harvested grain (excluding legumes, rice, and buckwheat after processing) amounted to 1 million 789 thousand tons, which is 14.2% lower than in 2024. The decrease in the harvest volume is associated with a drop in cereal yields (excluding legumes, rice, and buckwheat) by 15.3% compared to last year.
