On the London Metal Exchange (LME), copper prices have reached a new historical record, surpassing the $13,000 per ton mark for the first time. Analysts suggest that the price growth for this metal may continue this year.

Three-month copper futures rose by 2.65%, reaching a peak price of $13,390 per ton.

The rise in copper prices is occurring against a backdrop of market concerns about resource shortages and expectations that the situation in Venezuela may accelerate demand for key minerals, Reuters reports.

Analysts at Goldman Sachs have identified copper as one of the most promising metals by 2026.
