According to information obtained from CNBC, the Chinese automotive company BYD is expected to become the world's leader in electric vehicle sales by the end of 2025 for the first time in its history, surpassing American Tesla.
The final sales figures are expected on January 2. BYD announced that the number of electric vehicles it sold increased by almost 28%, reaching 2.26 million units. Tesla, for its part, has not yet provided its data for 2025.

On December 29, Tesla announced a forecast stating that its sales in 2025 would be around 1.6 million vehicles, which is 8% lower than the previous year's figures. This also means that the company will face a second consecutive year of declining sales volumes.

In the first quarter of 2025, Tesla's shares fell sharply amid increasing competition from Chinese automakers and the negative impact of Elon Musk's political statements on the company's reputation. However, in recent weeks, the stock price has risen to $489 following the founder's announcement of the start of testing self-driving cars in Austin, Texas.

In mid-December, Tesla's shares reached a record value of $476, increasing by 25% from the low of November 21. Bloomberg analysts attribute this growth to Musk's intentions to develop artificial intelligence in the automotive industry.
