In Poland, the Lodz Zoo is once again offering an unusual promotion in honor of Valentine's Day. For those who do not feel romantic on this day or are going through a breakup, the zoo has come up with an original initiative — anyone can "adopt" a Madagascar cockroach, name it after their ex-partner, and offer it as a treat for the meerkats.

“Do you have an ex? We have a cockroach. And the meerkat is already waiting for you! In our Orientarium this Valentine's Day, you can name a cockroach after your ex and symbolically close this chapter of your life,” the zoo reports.

As part of the campaign, three package options are available:

— Basic package (50 zlotys): "adoption" of a cockroach with a name assignment and an electronic certificate confirming participation.

— Premium package (150 zlotys): includes a certificate, a name for the cockroach, and a photo of the moment when the meerkat eats the insect.

— VIP package (300 zlotys): a certificate and the opportunity to personally feed the meerkats the cockroach named after your ex.

All funds raised during this campaign will be directed to the Pangolin Foundation, which is dedicated to environmental protection and the conservation of endangered species.

The campaign will run from February 1 to February 28, 2026.
