- On February 2, 2026, Deputy Bakyt Tentishev raised an important issue regarding the impact of cars without catalytic converters on air pollution levels during a meeting of the Committee on Agricultural Policy, Water Resources, Subsoil Use, Ecology, and Environmental Protection.

Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision Meder Mashiev noted that exhaust gases from vehicles account for 30% of pollutants in the air.

According to him, this figure was even higher previously when the capital's vehicle fleet mainly consisted of outdated models; however, in recent years, there has been a trend towards an increase in the number of electric vehicles.

The minister also added that comfortable conditions are being created for electric vehicles, including free parking spaces throughout Bishkek.

In addition, Deputy Tentishev emphasized the importance of gasification in some villages in the Issyk-Ata district.

On the agenda was a draft resolution of the Jogorku Kenesh concerning the "Environmental Situation Related to Smog."
