On February 2, 2026, the police department of the Sokuluk District received a report of a tragic incident: three small children fell into a canal in the village of Maiskaya, which is part of the Zhany-Pakhtinsky ayil okmotu. This was reported by the Interior Ministry of the Chui Region.
Immediately after receiving the report, an investigative operational group was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, it was established that the bodies of the children had been retrieved from the canal; however, unfortunately, they did not survive until the ambulance arrived.
During the investigation, the identities of the drowned children were established; all were born in 2021: M.N., S.E., and I.M. It is known that these children often played together, as their families live nearby and are relatives. The canal was located just 300 meters from their homes.
The canal was filled with water for irrigating agricultural land and lacked any fencing. The edges of the canal were covered with ice. Until 2:00 PM, no one noticed the absence of the children. One of the children, M.I., also born in 2021 and unable to speak, approached his mother K.N., trying to communicate what had happened. Not understanding him, the woman followed him. Upon reaching the canal, she discovered the drowned children and began to call for help.
The bodies of the children were sent to the morgue for forensic examinations. The investigation is ongoing, and based on its results, a procedural decision will be made in accordance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
