On January 30, 2026, during a meeting of the parliamentary group "Adilet Kyrgyzstan," member of the Jogorku Kenesh Rahat Junushbaeva raised the issue of the construction of a road connecting the cities of Karakol and Balakchy in the southern part of the Issyk-Kul region.
As Junushbaeva noted, the work on the construction of this road has been ongoing for about five years, and it is necessary to inform local residents about the completion dates and the volume of work done. This route is important for ensuring transportation links between the Ton and Jeti-Oguz districts.

The deputy also emphasized that it would be desirable to complete the construction before the start of the tourist season. She noted that in recent years there has been a decline in the number of tourists on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul, and one of the factors contributing to this is the poor condition of the road.

In response to questions from parliamentarians, Deputy Minister of Transport Beknazar Bazaraliev reported that work on the Balakchy–Barskoon section began in 2021. According to him, the project was assigned to local companies, and currently, the work is about 50% complete.

Bazaraliev added that the completion of construction is scheduled for August 30, 2026, and work is currently underway on all sections of the road.
