Sadyr Japarov, the President of Kyrgyzstan, issued a decree appointing Zhanarbek Akayev as the mayor of Osh.
A decree was previously signed relieving Zhenishbek Toktorbaev of his duties as the mayor of the city of Osh.
Some facts about Zhanarbek Akayev:
▪️ Akayev was born in 1986 in the Alai district of the Osh region.
▪️ In 2009, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Osh State University.
▪️ Since 2008, he has worked at the Kyrgyz Service of Radio "Azattyk".
▪️ From February to August 2015, he served as press secretary to President Almazbek Atambayev.
▪️ From 2015 to 2021, he was a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh of the VI convocation from the Social Democratic Party. He was also elected as a deputy in the VII and VIII convocations of parliament, and in the latter, he headed the "Ala-Too" deputy group.
▪️ A family man, he is raising three children.
