According to information received by the editorial office of Vesti.kg, Janar Akayev has become the new mayor of Osh.
His official presentation is expected tomorrow, February 19.
Previously, this position was held by Zhenishbek Toktorbaev.
Janar Akayev was born on December 13, 1986, in the village of Kabyalan-Kol, located in the Alai district of the Osh region.
In 2011, he graduated from Osh State University with a degree in journalism.
From 2008 to 2014, Akayev worked at the Kyrgyz service of Radio Azattyk, and in 2015 he became the press secretary of the president.
On October 4, 2015, he was elected as a deputy of the VI convocation of parliament from the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan.
In 2021, Janar Akayev was re-elected as a deputy of the VII convocation, now from the Alliance party.
Additionally, he was re-elected in the elections on October 30, 2025.
