
The president's decree on the new mayor has been signed
Zhanar Akayev will now head the city of Osh, as President Sadyr Japarov approved his appointment. This decision is based on Article 71 of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic and Article 47 of the Law "On Local State Administration and Local Self-Government Bodies," as reported by the press service of the head of state.
Zhanar Akayev was born on December 13, 1986, in the village of Kabylyan-Kol, located in the Alay district of the Osh region. In 2009, he successfully completed his studies at the Faculty of Journalism of Osh State University.
Akayev began his career in 2008, working for the Kyrgyz service of Radio "Azattyk." In 2015, he took the position of press secretary to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Since October 2015, he has represented the interests of citizens in the Jogorku Kenesh of the VI convocation from the SDPK party. From 2015 to 2017, he also served as the deputy chairman of the committee on social issues, education, science, culture, and health.
Zhanar Akayev is the recipient of the "Golden Pen of Eurasia" award (2011) and the "Kurch Kalem" award (2014). He is married and raising three children.
