According to sources, the detention of citizens of Kazakhstan, who were on the international wanted list, is connected to a brutal double murder that occurred in the Atyrau region, reports Orda.kz.
The operation to detain them took place in Lombok, where on February 24, law enforcement officers arrested Sarsemaliev and Mukangaliyeva. As Indonesian authorities discovered, the suspects arrived in the country on December 14, 2025, flying from Kuala Lumpur to Bali, and then hid on the island of Lombok until their arrest.
Indonesian authorities expect Kazakhstan to send an official request for the extradition of the detainees so that they can stand trial in their homeland.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, the investigation into the double murder case began after the tragic events in November 2025 in the village of Zhangeldin in the Atyrau region. Preliminary data suggests that the crime was carefully planned and committed with mercenary intentions.
