Dr. Gentry Lee, who has been working at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) since 1968, shared his opinion on the existence of extraterrestrial life. His words were paraphrased from a piece by the Daily Mail, translated by aif.ru. Lee stated that while aliens do exist, they have not visited Earth. "To date, there is no evidence that aliens or their technologies have ever landed on our planet," he noted.

Lee made these remarks at the conference of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) held in Phoenix. He emphasizes that life could very well exist on other planets. The most promising candidates for the search for extraterrestrial life are "Earth-like" worlds, such as TRAPPIST-1e, which is located just 40 light-years away from us in the habitable zone.

Another candidate for the presence of life is the planet K2−18b, located 124 light-years away in the constellation Leo. This is a giant world completely covered by oceans, which grants it the status of a "hycean." Lee added that astronomers should be prepared for the possibility that the forms of life they may discover will be very different from those on Earth. "We will definitely find life somewhere. The probability of this is high," he concluded.
