Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported the detention of journalist Altynai Arstanbekova.
During a social media monitoring on March 9, 2026, it was established that an account under the name "Daniil Zhooshbaev" on Facebook posted materials that criticized the work of state structures and could discredit the authority of the Kyrgyz Republic. In the comments to the posts of this account, there were also messages capable of destabilizing the public situation and inciting mass riots.
Based on this fact, the investigative authorities of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek initiated a criminal case under Article 278 (Calls for Mass Riots) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As a result of operational-search activities, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State National Security Committee were able to identify and detain the owner of the fake account "Daniil Zhooshbaev" — journalist A.A., born in 1976.
In this regard, all publications and messages posted by A.A. through the specified Facebook account were checked in accordance with the legislation, and examinations were appointed.
On March 10, 2026, during a search at A.A.'s residence, various technical devices and items significant for the criminal case were discovered and seized, including mobile phones, tablets, laptops, a video camera, and documents.
On March 11, 2026, the suspect A.A. was placed in the temporary detention facility of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek.
Currently, investigative actions are ongoing.
