Deputy Umbetaly Kydyraiev reported that a letter from the Bishkek city administration was presented at the meeting of the relevant committee, outlining a seven-point plan to combat smog. He inquired whether the Cabinet had developed a similar plan.
Amangeldiev responded that the government has its own plan, which is already beginning to yield results. He emphasized: “As I mentioned earlier, combating smog and improving the environmental situation is not a cheap endeavor, and we are approaching this consciously by zeroing out VAT. We are currently working on coal enrichment, which may lead to price increases. This issue is being addressed jointly with the government through the subsidization of enriched coal supplies.” He also expressed readiness to cooperate with the parliament.
Minister of Nature Meder Mashiev added that an interagency commission has been established, which has approved a work plan for 2024-2026. He reminded that the Bishkek city administration's seven-point plan has already been sent and is part of the overall plan to improve the environmental situation. If the document has not been received, he is ready to send it directly.
