On February 17, public hearings organized by the eco-council are taking place in Bishkek at an eco-technology plant that generates electricity from solid household waste, where initiatives to improve air quality in the capital are being discussed.

The event is attended by the city mayor Aibek Junushaliev, representatives of the city administration, deputies of the Bishkek city council, and ecologists.

According to the mayor, the goal of increasing the number of planted trees was set at the last eco-council meeting. Initially, it was planned to plant 15,000 saplings, but later this number was decided to be increased to 18,000.

“Saplings have also been planted in the territories of educational institutions and in all schools in the city. We marked them with ribbons. This year, it is planned to plant 50,000 trees. Contracts for the supply of saplings have already been signed. In mid-February, we will deliver the saplings and place them in nurseries for adaptation, after which they will be planted throughout the city,” Junushaliev added.
